Loungewear. AKA the current daily uniform for lots of us. With to-do lists diminishing by the day during lockdown, it can be it can be tempting to just stay in the same outfit for days on end and eliminate the effort of having to think about what to pair with what every morning.
While lazy days which consist of transporting your duvet from your bed to your sofa and staying in your pyjamas to watch Bridgerton for the tenth time can be great for the soul sometimes, too many days like this can have the reverse effect and leave you feeling quite sluggish – at least I know that’s the case for me, anyone else? Something as simple as getting a nice outfit on and feeling put together can really change the tone of your day.
When I say “getting a nice outfit on”, I don’t necessarily mean digging out your favourite LBD and pairing it with a bold lip (but by all means, if you’re in the mood to dress to the nines just for the sake of it, I say go for it, because why not?!). What I do mean is, wear what makes you feel good. Rediscover things you might not have worn in a while and get a new sense of joy from them. Add a new edge to your favourite joggers with that shirt you forgot you had, or add some texture to your look with stacks of jewellery. The main thing to remember is, comfort is key.
I’m by no means claiming to reinvent the wheel with my suggestions, but what I am hoping to do is remind you of the gems in your wardrobe which have the power to make you look and feel great in yourself, or at the very least I hope this post provides you with some inspo to fuel your next late night online shop (we all do it!).
So, with that being said, I’m sharing some go-to loungewear looks to take you through the week when PJ days feel like they’re becoming just a little too repetitive…
A classic co-ord
Simple, effective and incredibly low fuss. Co-ords require minimal effort but can look the most put together when it comes to loungewear looks. There’s something incredibly pleasing about a matching set, and the best part about them is you can achieve a chic finish without really trying which makes co-ords a go-to for day-to-day comfort and convenience.

Racer neck romper
Name something more convenient than only having to put one item of clothing on in the morning. I’ll wait. A casual playsuit or romper has the same effect as a co-ord in that you can feel put together without putting in lots of effort.
Layering a simple playsuit by draping either a chunky knit cardigan or an oversized shirt over it can and add a little something extra (and warmth) without trying too hard. For me, oversized shirts are the way to go when it comes to layering in this context. Below I’ve kept to the same colour palette and paired my PLT romper with a corduroy Zara shirt.

Alternatively, a basic playsuit can be a good base for adding pattern with your extra layer. Below, I’ve paired one of my Dad’s old Lacoste shirts with the same romper from PLT for an even more relaxed look. This shirt proves that there can be many ways to create a new look with every item in your wardrobe, or the unwanted items in someone else’s, you just have to pay attention to them.
Basic cycling shorts and an oversized hoodie
Even though I often gravitate to oversized looks, sometimes I can feel as though I’m swimming in material if my entire outfit is slouchy. Sometimes you can’t go wrong with the cycling shorts and hoodie combo. This look brings balance but still retains the slouchy and comfy feeling you don’t want to lose.

Comfy cargo pants
When I fancy a change from joggers, cargo pants are my go-to for achieving a relaxed fit with a bit of structure without compromising on comfort.
Simple dresses
A simple midi dress layered with a slouchy jumper, or a t-shirt dress paired with cosy socks are two of my favourite loungewear looks. They’re another easy way to feel a little more put together, and they’re also great fits for a crisp winter walk, all you need to do is add your favourite teddy coat or puffer jacket and a chunky pair of trainers.
Your go-to joggers
Joggers. Need I say more? The rise in popularity of athleisure in recent years has made a good pair of joggers (or three) a definite staple in every wardrobe. Whether you wear them with a matching hoodie, a simple crop top, or a bodysuit, joggers are a great base for any loungewear look no matter what mood you’re in.

Matching pyjamas
I know I started this post by saying too many duvet days can leave me feeling sluggish, but everyone needs a PJ day sometimes. On those days, going for a matching PJ set instead of your default pair of comfy shorts and oversized tee can be a great way to take a PJ day up a notch. Whether luxurious satin or colourful novelty prints are your thing, make no mistake, there is some joy to be found in a matching set.
